Grants for groups

We run a range of grants programmes for community groups and charities in Wiltshire and Swindon including several managed on behalf of other funders

Our grants support projects that improve people’s lives Wiltshire and Swindon. We focus on supporting grassroots and small to medium-sized organisations that are working with people on low incomes. A full list of our current grant programmes is below.

Community Grants

Grants of up to £6,000 per year for up to three years

Our community grants programme supports projects  that improve people's lives in Wiltshire and Swindon. We prioritise applications from grassroots and small to medium-sized organisations that are working with people on low incomes.

This programme is always open for applications with decisions being made four times a year. The next cut-off date for applications is 17th July at 11am with decisions being made in September.

Wessex Water Environment Fund

Grants of up to £2,000

This programme supports charitable and community activities that improve local biodiversity or have a positive impact on the local environment for local people.

Funding is available to local organisations in the Wessex Water area. 

Applications for this programme opens on 17 April 2026.

Science Museum Group Wroughton Solar Park Sustainable Futures Grants

Grants of up to £20,000

This programme supports charitable and community activities that focus on science, technology, engineering, maths and the environment such as renewable energy, ecology or habitat conservation.

This programme is currently closed for applications and will be opening for Expressions of Interest in Autumn 2026 (exact date TBC)

Supporting Communities Grants (funded by the Science Museum Wroughton Solar Park Community Benefit Fund)

Grants ranging from £500 - £2,500

This programme supports activities which will improve the lives of people living in the parish areas of: Wroughton, Chiseldon, Clyffe Pypard, Broad Town, Broad Hinton, Ogbourne St George, Ogbourne St Andrew, Aldbourne and Baydon.

This programme is currently closed for applications, and will be opening in Winter 2026 (exact date TBC)

Older People's Programme

Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 per year for one or two years.

The aim of this programme is to support older people to be independent, healthy and socially included.

Wessex Water Community Fund

Grants of up to £4,000

The  Wessex Water Community Fund supports charitable and community activities that aim to improve the lives of local people by building stronger communities and bringing communities together.

Applications for this programme opens on 21 September 2026.

Police and Crime Commissioner's Community Action Fund Grants

Grants of up to £5,000

The Police and Crime Commissioner's Community Action Fund Grants support voluntary groups to deliver activities in line with priorities 2, 3 and 4 of the Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Plan 2025-2029.

Applications for this programme will open in Spring 2026 (exact date TBC)

Heritage and Nature Grants

Our Heritage and Nature programme funds work that will preserve land or buildings of beauty or historic interest, including the preservation of animals and plant life, in Wiltshire. Each year, the Foundation will make two or three small grants (usually between £5,000 - £8,000) or one larger grant (usually £15,000 - £18,000).

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for grants to be awarded in 2026/27. If your organisation is responsible for conserving a natural space or heritage building, you can register an interest here to find out if your project is eligible. Applications are by invitation only, typically in the autumn with grants awarded in February or March. Please note: the priority for 2026/27 is for heritage buildings.

Welcome Fund Programme

The Welcome Programme will help local voluntary sector and community groups to deliver a range of assistance and practical activities to support resettlement, community cohesion and help build futures for refugees and asylum seekers in our communities.

Haydon Wick

Grants of up to £3,000

This programme supports local charities, voluntary organisations or not for profit companies based in, or whose work substantially benefits, the people of Haydon Wick and immediate surrounding neighbourhoods.

High Sheriff Awards

Grants of up to £3,000

The programme supports projects which bring communities together to tackle local issues. Applications are expected to focus on one or more of the following areas: anti-social behaviour, crime in local neighbourhoods, drug and alcohol-related crime, reducing re-offending, violence against women and girls or youth crime.

Youth Partnership Learning and Development Grants

The Learning and Development Grants Programme is part of the Youth Work Capacity Building, Training and Support Programme. The aim of the programme is to increase access to learning and development opportunities that enhance individuals’ ability to contribute to their role and to the organisation’s wider work with young people.

Grants of between £100 and £3,000 are available to enable youth-focused charitable organisations or groups to support their staff/volunteers to access learning and development opportunities.

Applications for this programme are due to open in April.
