Funds for Individuals
Named Funds
A Fund at the Community Foundation works like a charitable trust but is much easier to manage. It allows you to support issues and areas of your choosing, but saves you the trouble of appointing trustees, handling investments and administration.
You can set up a Named Fund with a one-off donation of £20,000 or with a pledge to build a fund over four years. Donations can be very tax-effective, through Gift Aid or through a gift of shares.
Funds are invested and the income is used to make regular grants to the local projects you are interested in helping. All the grants we make are ratified by the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Foundation Funds
Smaller Foundation Funds are available for Individuals who wish to commit to a £5,000 fund and may consider adding to the fund later through a legacy. A fund can be set up with a minimum commitment of £500 per year.

Pooled Funds
Not all our supporters are in a position to set up their own Named Fund and some prefer the anonymity of giving to one of our Pooled funds.
The largest of the pooled funds is the Wiltshire & Swindon Fund. This is an unrestricted fund and the income is used to support a range of different projects operating across the county.
In addition we have funds for the different parts of the county. Donors to the Central Wiltshire Fund, the Salisbury Fund and the Swindon Fund often prefer that their donations are used to benefit people in their own local area. Other pooled funds include the Gold Fund, for supporting older peoples’ projects, and the Milliennium Youth fund for young people.
Legacies
Supporters can also set up a Named Fund by leaving a bequest to the Community Foundation in their Will. It is a way to make a huge difference to local communities for generations to come. When you leave a gift in your Will, we ensure your gift stays local and supports the causes you care about most.
Your bequest can be used to set up a Named Fund that will benefit local projects year after year in your memory, or you can leave a bequest to one of our existing Named Funds.
