Legacies

Leaving a gift in your Will is an important way to make a huge difference to your local community for generations to come. When you leave a gift in your Will, we ensure your gift stays local and supports the causes you care about most.

A gift to your community

The Community Foundation welcomes gifts of all sizes.

Leave a gift in your Will of £20,000 or more to set up your own Named Fund. You choose the name of your Fund and causes you want to benefit. The Community Foundation will ensure grants are awarded according to your wishes for years to come.

Leave a gift in your Will to support an existing Fund at the Community Foundation. We manage funds for Central Wiltshire, Swindon, Salisbury, Young People, and Older People, as well as the Wiltshire & Swindon fund, which is an unrestricted fund that responds to the changing needs of our communities over time.

There are several ways to leave a gift in your Will to the Community Foundation:

  • A Residuary Legacy - is the remaining value of an estate when all other bequests to family and friends have been made.
  • A Pecuniary Legacy - is a fixed amount or item specified in a Will.
  • A percentage of your Estate - specify a gift of a percentage of the value of your estate.
  • A Reversionary Legacy - allows a surviving partner to benefit from the estate during his or her lifetime and then for the balance of the estate to be passed to the Community Foundation.

The Community Foundation has recently been quoted in "Coutts Million Pound Donors Report" featuring our £2million donors, Mr and Mrs Shuker.

    Surviving Winter

“Staying warm and healthy in our cold winters is something most of us take for granted. However, when the idea of those more fortunate “handing on” their winter fuel payments to local, vulnerable people was presented, I wanted to pledge my payment to the “Surviving Winter Appeal”.
